He holds their hands while they die. Every demon he kills, he kneels down and takes the hand and stays until it turns to ash. He does this for the ones that ate children. Not because he forgives them. Because he can smell what they used to be, and he knows that every single one of them was a person first. That is the whole character. He came home from selling charcoal and found his family slaughtered and his sister turned into a demon, and he did not go looking for revenge. He went looking for a cure. He carries her on his back in a wooden box and has done ever since. On a bank card it is the green checks and the earrings. Nothing else needed.
